In 1985, the Richard family acquired Château La Nerthe, entrusting its management to Alain Dugas. Trained by Doctor Dufays (Dom. De Nalys at Châteauneuf-du-Pape), who was an expert in the local grape varieties , Alain Dugas had developed great expertise as a wine-producer over a period of 15 years at Domaine de Renjarde. At La Nerthe, he put into practice the beliefs and techniques of Joseph Ducos, surrounding himself with a team of men and women devoted to the concept of terroir. In 2008, Alain Dugas retired, and Christian Voeux took over from him. Christian Voeux, is an oenologist with a diploma from the faculty of Montpellier ; he had been working at Château Mont Redon for over 25 years.

Created in 1892, Maison Richard built up its wine business after decades of study ; they make prestigious wines which have earned for them an unequalled reputation in the restaurant trade. Professional winemakers are not made overnight – only after decades of learning and being in contact with the soil, the vines and above all people who pass on their passion and know-how.
